INTERNATIONAL TRADE AWARDS--Nominate A Worthy Company!
The Mass. Alliance for International Business (MAIB) is issuing a Call for Nominations for its annual International Trade Achievement Awards. More than 50 Mass. companies have won these awards since 1996. The awards recognize entities that exemplify global leadership in their international trade activities, by increasing or retaining jobs, creating innovative solutions for export challenges, producing or adapting a product line for international markets, establishing alliances or partnerships, or investing in infrastructure or manufacturing in Mass. EVENT: Feb. 22, Thurs.--"Bomb Scare: The History & Future of Nuclear Weapons," Noon, Boston
WorldBoston presents this lunchtime talk by Joseph Cirincione, Sr. Vice President for National Security & International Policy for the Center of American Progress. Mr. Cirincione was formerly director for nonproliferation at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and worked for nine years in the U.S. House of Representatives. Event is at Moakley Courthouse, Jury Assembly Room, 1 Courthouse Way, Boston. Cost is $15 members, $25 non-members, and students are free. Brown bag luncheon begins at Noon; on-site dining available. LECTURE: Feb. 24, Sat.--"Energy Autonomy" by Dr. Hermann Scheer, 2pm, Medford
The German-American Business Council and Tufts University School of Engineering present Dr. Hermann Scheer, member of the German Parliament and President of Eurosolar, on "The Economic, Social and Technological Case for Renewable Energy." Dr. Scheer has received numerous awards including the World Wind Energy Award, the World Prize on Bio- Energy, and Time Magazine's "Five Heroes for the Green Century." Event location is Barnum Hall, Tufts University, Medford. Ample parking in the garage at 419 Boston Ave., Medford. The Lecture is free of charge.

EVENT: Feb. 25, Sun.--"The UN in the Era of American World Power," 2pm, Boston
This Kennedy Library Forum, presented by the UN Assn. of Greater Boston, features author James Traub; Gillian Sorensen, Senior Advisor to the UN Foundation; Iqbal Riza, former Chief of Staff to the UN Secy General, and Nancy Soderberg, who served in President Clinton's National Security Council. The forum is free and the location is the JFK Library and Museum, Columbia Point, South Boston.
