Aspect Medical Systems of Norwood, GLOBAL AWARD winner, is a worldwide leader in the manufacturing and distribution of the BIS® brain-monitoring system, which enables clinicians to assess and manage a patient's level of consciousness in the operating room and administer the precise amount of anesthesia needed. All of Aspect's products are manufactured in a new facility in Norwood. Aspect's BIS® technology is available in more than 160 countries worldwide and has been used to assess approximately 26 million patients. The company's 2007 international revenue increased 18% over 2006.

Fabrico, Inc. of Oxford, AMBASSADOR'S AWARD winner, manufactures precision components from expensive alloys. These components are used wherever there is high heat or corrosive material, in industries that include aerospace, computer, chemical, food processing, marine, medical and semiconductor manufacturing. Most of Fabrico's components are found in large, land-based gas turbines that generate clean electricity around the globe. Fabrico recently formed a joint venture with a Singapore-based company to service the growing solar cell manufacturing market. Nearly half of Fabrico's annual sales are from exports. In the past two years, Fabrico's revenues have increased nearly 40%, with much of the increase attributable to export growth.

Hardigg Industries of South Deerfield, CHAIRMAN'S AWARD winner, manufactures rotationally and injection-molded rugged containers for transporting sensitive equipment. With over 500 employees in South Deerfield, Hardigg has been exporting for nearly 40 years. Hardigg's export customers are in the aerospace, defense and industrial sectors, and NATO members are major clients. The company has set up distribution and sales facilities in France, the UK and Canada and developed a proprietary system to save on international shipping costs. Hardigg sells its products in 74 countries, and exporting is one of its top five core strategies. Hardigg's international revenue grew more than 50% from 2006 to 2007.

SEMINAR: June 5, Thurs. - Biotech & Pharmaceutical Import Regulations, 8am, Cambridge
CONECT (Coalition of New England Companies for Trade) presents this seminar on Import Regulations & Tariff Classification. EVENT: June 5, Thurs. - "Serbia, Kosovo & the Still-Volatile Balkans," 11:45am, Boston
WorldBoston and the American Council on Germany present Ambassador Michael C. Polt, former US Ambassador to Serbia and Senior Transatlantic Fellow, The German Marshall Fund of the U.S. Ambassador Polt will discuss Kosovo's recently-declared independence from Serbia, Serbia's May parliamentary election that signaled a pro-Western tilt in policy, and reactions from the U.S., the EU and Russia. The pre-event, which is from 11:45am-12:15pm, includes lunch, and is open only to WorldBoston and ACG members, is $40. The general event, from 12:15-1:45pm, is $25 for non-members. WORKSHOP: June 12, Thurs. - "ITAR Bootcamp: A Hands-On Workshop for Compliance," 8:30am, Boston
The Mass. Export Center presents this unique opportunity to learn the nuts and bolts of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). This complex set of export controls, administered and enforced by the State Dept., affects companies that manufacture and/or export defense-related goods or services as well as companies that export commercial products specifically designed, developed, configured or modified for use in defense-related applications.
