INTERNATIONAL TRADE ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS--Nominations due March 17
 
The Massachusetts Alliance for International Business (MAIB) will make three International Trade Achievement Awards this spring. These annual awards recognize Massachusetts manufacturers, service providers, and not-for-profit organizations that have created new solutions to export challenges, produced or adapted products or services to a foreign market, established alliances to further international trade, or retained jobs by opening new international markets.

Nearly fifty Massachusetts companies, both large and small, have received MAIB International Trade Achievement Awards over the past ten years. For a complete list of past winners, and detailed descriptions of last year's recipients, click on the link below.

Nominations for the 2006 Awards are due by March 17, 2006, and may be submitted by mail, by fax, or on-line. Please click the link below to submit a nomination.

T he Coalition of New England Companies for Trade (CONECT) presents this luncheon event. Join in an open discussion with the Congressman and convey the importance of international trade to Massachusetts businesses. Mar. 3/4, Fri./Sat.--"New Global Realities: Winners & Losers from Offshore Outsourcing", at Mt. Holyoke College, South Hadley
 
This conference, cosponsored by the New York Times Knowledge Network and Rockefeller Brothers Fund, brings together scholars and practitioners to address the increased job flight in manufacturing and skilled services and the challenges of globalized production. Speakers include Richard Freeman, Economics Chair at Harvard University; Catherine Mann, Senior Fellow at the Institute for International Economics; Hans-Peter Martin, member of the European Parliament, Brussels; and Louis Uchitelle, senior economics writer at the NYTimes and author of The Disposable American: Layoffs and Their Consequences. C ONECT presents this seminar featuring Diane Weinberg, partner with the law firm of Meeks & Sheppard, who will provide a detailed review of the preferential rules of origin, focusing on textile and apparel provisions of the CAFTA-DR. CAFTA-DR is a comprehensive free trade agreement now being implemented with El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicarague and the Dominican Republic. Location is Wollaston Golf Club, Milton.
