MAIB INTERNATIONAL TRADE ROUNDTABLES--May & June, 2006--Lawrence, Boston, Hudson, Springfield and Fairhaven
 
This spring's MAIB Lunchtime Roundtables will be held May 3 at New Balance in Lawrence; May 17 at INTRAL Corporation in Boston; May 23 at Hudson Lock in Hudson; May 31 at TDBanknorth in Springfield; and June 6 at Acushnet in Fairhaven. These events will feature a concise, expert presentation by a senior executive at the host company. Topics include: 5/3: Avoiding Knock-offs: Protecting Your Patents and Trademarks; 5/17: Who Moved my Cheese? Moving Goods in a Security- Conscious World; 5/23: Pitfalls and Premiums: Choosing New Overseas Markets; 5/31: Beijing to Brazil: Trade Finance in Emerging Markets; and 6/6: Across the Pacific: Sourcing and Selling in Southeast Asia.

EXPORT LOGISTICS CERTIFICATE SERIES: April 12, 19, 26 & May 3, 9am-noon, Westboro
 
This four-part series is designed to provide exporters with a comprehensive, working understanding of the day-to-day mechanics of trading abroad. Participants who complete all four sessions will receive a certificate from the Massachusetts Export Center, which is presenting this series in conjunction with MAIB, CONECT, and UPS. The Export Center has offered high-quality, well-regarded export programs for many years. SYMPOSIUM: Apr. 7, Fri.--Global Management Workshop & Panel--8:30am, Babson College
 
This annual symposium features workshops and an panel discussion, "Is the Business World Really Flat?", by business executives from Argentina, Canada, Colombia, London, Norway and Boston. EVENT: April 7-9, Fri.-Sun.--Innovation, Tech Transfer & Entrepreneurship--Cambridge
 
This 3-day event, held at MIT's Stata Center, includes French and American companies, research organizations, universities and offices of the French Embassy in the U.S. The first session is a Friday roundtable at 2:30pm, titled "Entrepreneurial Ecosystems in France and U.S.--Best Practices." The UN Association of Greater Boston brings together members of the local and international community and the Consular Corps of Boston for this day and evening of festivities at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel, Boston. Attend a free-of-charge reception from 3-5pm honoring former UNICEF and US Peace Corps Director Carol Bellamy, who will reflect on her career. EVENT: Apr. 11, Tues.--Greater China Business Roundtable Panel--7:30-9am, Boston
 
This Roundtable will feature U.S. Senior Commercial Officers from China, Hong Kong & Taiwan, giving an overview of the business climate and economic trends in the greater China region, as well as information on best prospects and opportunities for U.S. exporters. Meet one-on-one with top U.S. business and commercial representatives of the U.S. Embassies who work on behalf of U.S. firms in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Australia, Japan and Korea. These Counselors are in a position to further Mass. companies' export business objectives. Meeting slots are limited and are scheduled in 20-minute blocks. Meeting times are 8am-11am at Law Offices of Burns & Levinson, 125 Summer St., Boston. EVENT: Apr. 12, Wed.--"Transatlantic Relations--Common Values, Different Views", 6pm, Boston

This monthly gathering is for those interested or involved in business in China. Speakers include Ken McGuire, Director of Manufacturing Services, Manufacturing Advancement Center, and Brian Seelig, former Chief Operating Officer of WAI.
