Harassment and Discrimination Prevention Training

Educating employees about the issues of harassment and discrimination, and the company’s position and expectations of them, is a very sound investment. The time and resources required to fully respond to a single MCAD charge can be mind-boggling. The Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination (MCAD) is very clear in stating that an employer has two primary defenses against most discrimination and/or harassment charges:

  1. Well-written and well-communicated policies and procedures; and
  2. Evidence of effective training for employees, supervisors and managers

AIM’s highly experienced instructors have successfully completed MCAD-certified training on this topic. AIM offers a program for both employees and managers that defines the issues associated with Sexual Harassment and Discrimination.  In addition to reviewing the applicable state and federal laws, this program offers very practical information about how harassment and discrimination happens in the everyday workplace.

Participants will learn:
  • Types of harassment and discrimination
  • Important definitions
  • How to recognize and avoid problem situations
  • Employer responsibilities
  • Helpful conduct guidelines
  • Employee responsibilities
Program Content:
  • Discussion of Sexual Harassment Law
  • Real-world examples and scenarios
  • Inclusion and review of your company’s policy
  • Interactive game designed to reinforce learning
Additional Focus for Managers and Supervisors:
  • How to respond to a complaint
  • Company vs. individual liability
  • An employer’s vicarious (automatic) liability
  • Is there a problem if  “everyone for management conduct  is participating in it”?
  • If you know it, the company knows it – The manager/supervisor as legal agent
  • Your role in changing the culture – one step at a time
Program Length:
  • 1.5 to 2 hours for employees
  • 2.5 hours for managers and supervisors
Base Fee:  Depends on length of program conducted
