Richard C. Lord is President and Chief Executive Officer of Associated Industries of Massachusetts (AIM). AIM is a state-wide employer advocacy and service organization of more than 4,500 member companies. Mr. Lord joined AIM in 1991 and served as Executive Vice President for Legislative Policy where he was responsible for AIM’s public policy advocacy on health care, economic development, taxation, worker’s compensation and other issues of interest to employers in the Commonwealth. He has been President and CEO since 1999.
Prior to joining AIM, Mr. Lord served as Chief of Staff for the Committee on Ways and Means of the Massachusetts House of Representatives. The Committee is responsible for all legislation involving state funds and revenues, including the Commonwealth's annual budget and all tax related matters. Mr. Lord was employed by the Committee for six years, serving as the Budget Director before being promoted to the Chief of Staff position.
Before entering public service, Mr. Lord also worked in financial positions at General Electric Company and McCormack and Dodge, a Massachusetts-based software company. He is a 1977 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Williams College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Psychology.
Mr. Lord is a member of several boards, including Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Boston, the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation, the Massachusetts eHealth Collaborative, The Children’s Trust Fund, the Massachusetts Business Alliance for Education, the Commonwealth’s Health Policy Commission, the New England Center for Children, A.I.M. Mutual Insurance Company, Inc., the Massachusetts Association for Mental Health, Massachusetts Health Quality Partners and the Massachusetts Health Council. He also chairs the Massachusetts Workforce Training Fund Advisory Panel. He is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Commonwealth Health Insurance Connector Authority.
John manages all government affairs functions for the organization, overseeing AIM’s activities in four principal areas: administrative and legislative advocacy, regulatory issues, litigation, and ballot initiatives. Before joining AIM, John served as Executive Vice President for Operations at MassDevelopment, the state’s economic development agency, where he interacted with many AIM members on specific projects.
Bob is responsible for growing the membership of AIM and ensuring that members receive measurable value from their investment. A graduate of Northeastern University, Bob brings extensive experience in sales, account management and customer service.
Chris has spent almost two decades keeping Massachusetts employers informed about issues, developments and management practices that affect their business. Chris brings a background in daily journalism to the job of providing useful intelligence to AIM members through the AIM Business Insider blog, the Business Weekly and HR Edge e-newsletters, and social media.
Brian coordinates media relations, and serves as a public spokesperson for AIM while developing institutional relations and building grassroots support for the association’s public policy agenda. He brings a wealth of experience to AIM, including service as Director of Legislative Affairs for the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce and Director of Human Resource Development and Community Leadership for the Greater Harford Chamber of Commerce.
Cindy is responsible for directing, managing, reporting and achieving AIM’s financial goals and business strategies. She views herself a guardian of AIM’s future, responsible to AIM members to secure and strengthen AIM’s financial position, meeting needs of today and anticipating requirements of tomorrow. Lyman joined AIM in 2011 bringing with her a diverse finance, accounting and operations career spanning over thirty years.
