Paid Sick Time

Share Page

Massachusetts voters recently approved a measure requiring companies with fewer than six employees to provide unpaid sick time, and all other employers to offer paid sick time.

AIM opposed the initiative, but respects the will of the voters. The association is now working with the Massachusetts Legislature at Attorney General Maura Healy to clarify multiple points of confusion as employers seek to implement the new law.

The law, which is due to take effect on July 1, requires businesses with six to 10 employees to offer up to 40 hours of paid sick time, and businesses with more than 10 employees to offer up to 56 hours of paid sick time.
