Paid Sick Time

Massachusetts voters approved a measure on November 4, 2014 requiring companies to provide sick time.

AIM opposed the initiative, but respects the will of the voters. The association is now working with the Massachusetts Legislature at Attorney General Maura Healy to clarify multiple points of confusion as employers seek to implement the new law.

The law, which is due to take effect on July 1, 2015 requires businesses with 11 or more employees to offer up to 40 hours of paid sick time, and businesses with fewer than 11 employees to offer this time unpaid.
